Joseff is a specialist family barrister, who regularly appears at all levels of the Family Court and has been instructed in the High Court on behalf of both parents and local authorities in care and wardship proceedings.

He has extensive experience in the full range of private children matters. Joseff is frequently instructed to represent parents in complex and acrimonious applications, including cases involving allegations of sexual assault, domestic violence and parental alienation.

Joseff is regularly instructed in all types of contentious financial remedy proceedings.

Joseff has also written several articles for Counsel magazine on the merits of remote working for the profession and is a conversational Welsh speaker.

Joseff frequently appears for Local Authorities, parents, grandparents, interveners and guardians in all aspects of public care cases and emergency applications.

He has appeared for Local Authorities before the High Court in complex and contentious proceedings, and regularly advises and represents in cases of inflicted injury for both public bodies and parents.

Joseff has extensive experience in all areas of private children law, and has built a busy and established practice in the Family Court.

He is regularly instructed in cases involving allegations of physical, psychological and sexual abuse. Joseff routinely deals with applications for change of residence, external and internal relocation, education provision and special guardianship orders.

Children – Public Law
  • Re X – Led by Owen Thomas KC in lengthy High Court care proceedings involving transgender children and disputed parental influence on the children’s transition.
  • Re Y – Instructed as Junior Counsel in prolonged High Court proceedings that involved international issues, extensive findings of sexual harm, and parental alienation.
  • Re M – Secured care and placement orders on behalf of the Local Authority, having advised and represented throughout proceedings, resulting in findings of inflicted injury.
Children – Private Law
  • Re E­ ­– Secured substantial and numerous findings against a parent in relation to emotional harm of the child, and parental alienation of the separated parent.
  • Re T ­– Successful contested application made by a parent seeking to change their child’s primary education.
  • Re H – Successfully represented a parent in acrimonious proceedings seeking to change the residence of their child.

Joseff has an extensive pro-bono presence within his practice, and works with:

    • Bridging the Bar, a charity committed to increasing the equality of access to opportunities in the legal profession across all underrepresented groups;
    • Young Citizens, where Joseff is the regional co-ordinator for Wales, a charity that conducts an annual national mock trial competition in comprehensive schools throughout Wales;
    • Lord Edmund Davies Legal Education Trust (LEDLET), a charity established to serve young people living in Wales or having a connection with Wales who are interested in entering the legal profession.

Joseff is also a panel member with Advocate, the Bar’s Pro-Bono charity, and is a member of the Bar Council’s Race Working Group.

He serves on the Equality and Diversity Committee of the Wales and Chester Circuit, as well as being the Cardiff Junior with Circuit for under 10 years call.
